Nesrine, multi-faceted musical artist
Do you feel like taking a trip to the seaside, with your feet in the water? Multiplying influences and blithely mixing genres, Nesrine leads us into a poetic universe, sometimes gentle, sometimes rebellious, at the crossroads of styles, regions and even continents.
Neko Neko: Could you briefly introduce yourself?
Nesrine: Singer-songwriter and cellist, I'm a European and North African woman.
Neko Neko: How do you alternate these different roles?
Nesrine: I like to mix them all! For my music, I follow them all. But for other projects, I sometimes put on one or the other...
Neko Neko: How would you describe your musical universe? What are your sources of inspiration, your references, your influences?
Nesrine: I'd describe it as jazz pop with North African roots, from Oum Kalthoum to Erykah Badu, via Jacques Brel and Beethoven.
Neko Neko: Your second album dates from the end of 2020. Do you have any other projects in the pipeline at the moment?
Nesrine: Yes! Finally! I've found the voice of what I'm going to do. My next album will be out in early 2024. There will be more French than on the previous album.
Neko Neko: What are your next tour dates?
Nesrine: I'm at the end of my tour for [my second] album, I still have a few dates, notably at the Jazz Baltica festival, then three dates in France at the beginning of the summer. I also sing and play with André Manoukian on his Gainsbourg project.
Neko Neko: Let's talk about your Neko Neko bag ;) Where does it go with you? What does it usually carry? What are its main assets?
Nesrine: It accompanies me on all my tours, from casual to chic. I have the essentials inside: as I travel a lot, I only carry the essentials. A passport, a cell phone, a lipstick, my house keys, and that's it!
Neko Neko: Is there a message you'd like to get across?
Nesrine: Take care of your joy and your Neko Neko ;)
