Magali Lambert, visual photographer

We're in Paris, in the middle of a winter that this time seems to have set in. Night falls early, the outside temperature borders on the indecent, and we're dreaming of just one thing: a cup of hot tea, a blanket and a roaring fire. It's the perfect time to push open the door to the cabinet of curiosities of Magali Lambert, a photographic artist who chisels images of bizarre beauty, enveloped in a strange warmth, flirting at all times with life and death.

Neko Neko: Magali, what are your sources of inspiration? Do you have any film, music, reading or exhibition recommendations to share at the moment?
Magali: At the moment, I'm listening to South American music from the 70s (Héctor Lavoe, Willie Colón, Celia Cruz). I'm re-reading Annie Ernaux, and I've discovered Clara-Dupont-Monod. I saw a sublime exhibition, "Les choses", at the Louvre, on the history of still life. Jim Jarmusch's Paterson is one of my favorite films.

Neko Neko: Is there a trip you've taken that has made a particular impression on you?
Magali: I spent a month in New York a few years ago, where I met some very open and welcoming artists. I also spent a year in Madrid, which I now consider my second city.

Neko Neko: How would you describe your clothing style?

Magali: My style is neat and comfortable. For my work, I need to be free to move.

Neko Neko: Do you have a favorite piece?

Magali: My earrings. I have lots of them, all very different.

Neko Neko: What do you like about Neko Neko bags?
Magali: They're beautiful, elegant, practical and suitable for all kinds of outfits.

Neko Neko: If we open your bag, what will we find inside?
Magali: My phone, my keys (with a scoubidou keyring given to me by a workshop participant), my cigarettes, my papers, my wallet, my mask and gel, my transport card, a lipstick. I also have a little secret lucky charm.
